Tinnitus is feeling a sound in the ear without actually existing, it is known as ringing. Tinnitus comes from one or more of the ear sections: the inner ear, the outer ear, the middle ear, or the brain. It is a symptom that appear from many things like infection of ear, existence of a lot of wax or foreign object in the ear, allergic or fluids in the nose, and the most important cause is the exposure to loud noise which damage the inner ear hearing nerve, all of that can cause tinnitus.
Tinnitus is annoying feeling to the person that makes person fatigue and unstable. Tinnitus now is common symptom for more than 50 million Americans suffer from it. Tinnitus can be in one or both ears or head and can be discontinuous or continues which is a disaster for the patient.
Most tinnitus people have heard loss because they can't hear frequencies at the same range they feel in their ear. The hearing test is made by audiogram which evaluates the degree of tinnitus.
Tinnitus can be prevented by wearing hearing protection in noisy places like concert or sporting places to reduce noise levels reached your ear. Also it can be prevented by controlling the blood pressure and decrease salt and coffee, make exercise, get rest and avoid fatigue, avoid aspirin.
Tinnitus can go away on its own or be permanent disability and there are many treatments for tinnitus like:
1) Avoid outside noise
2) Cleaning external ear.
3) Radio gamma surgery.
4) Teflon implant
5) Drugs like: Zinc and vitamins
6) Decrease salt and caffeine in nutrition
7) Use electrical, magnetic, current or acoustic stimulation.
8) Surgery.
9) Music therapy.
10) Tinnitus masker to filter noise.
