Cookie sheets can get very dirty and black from all the carbonized residues that are used while baking. Cookie sheets are not only used for cookies but also nachos, bacon, steak, etc. With all these foods on the cookie sheet it can get very dirty so make sure you clean it with the steps below.
You should start by buying a spray-on oven cleaner from any retailer near you. While cleaning, make sure you wear heavy-duty rubber gloves to avoid getting any germs or grime on yourself. Then, carefully spray the oven cleaner on the entire cookie sheet. This spray should not come in contact with any of your skin, so be careful while using it. After spraying, allow the sheet to sit for about fifteen to thirty minutes before going onto the next step. You should then put your gloves back on and wipe off all the oven cleaner with a towel or rag in your house. Make sure you throw away the towel or rag after using because it can be dangerous to use it again.
Wash the entire cookie sheet with soap and water after the above steps are completed. Be careful and check for anymore oven cleaner residue. There should be none left on the cookie sheet after cleaning it with soap and water. You are then able to use the cookie sheet as you normally would. Don't forget to clean the sheet regularly or when it gets dirty to avoid any harmful germs or grime that will end up on it. A tip I would recommend is to do this outdoors to avoid any odors or oven cleaner inside your house; this can be harmful.
Your cookie sheet will now be looking clean and ready for use again!
